【摘要】:Anadequatesoil,rock,andgroundwaterinvestigationwillprovidepertinentinformationfordecisionmakingononeormoreofthefollowingsubjects:3.1.1Optimumlocationofthestructure,bothverticallyandhorizontally,withintheareaoftheproposedconstruction.3.1.2Locationandpreliminaryevaluationofsuitableborrowandotherlocalsourcesofconstructionaggregates.3.1.3Needforspecialexcavatinganddewateringtechniqueswiththecorrespondingneedforinformation,evenifonlyapproximate,onthedistributionofsoilwatercontentorporepressure,orboth,andonthepiezometricheadsandapparentpermeability(hydraulicconductivity)ofthevarioussubsurfacestrata.3.1.4Investigationofslopestabilityinnaturalslopes,cuts,andembankments.3.1.5Conceptualselectionofembankmenttypesandhydraulicbarrierrequirements.3.1.6Conceptualselectionofalternatefoundationtypesandelevationsofthecorrespondingsuitablebearingstrata.3.1.7Developmentofadditionaldetailedsubsurfaceinvestigationsforspecificstructuresorfacilities.Theinvestigationmayrequirethecollectionofsufficientlylargesoilandrocksamplesofsuchqualityastoallowadequatetestingtodeterminethesoilorrockclassificationormineralogictype,orboth,andtheengineeringpropertiespertinenttotheproposeddesign.Thisguideisnotmeanttobeaninflexibledescriptionofinvestigationrequirements;methodsdefinedbyotherASTMstandardsornon-ASTMtechniquesmaybeappropriateinsomecircumstances.Theintentistoprovideachecklisttoassistinthedesignofanexploration/investigationplan.1.1ThisguidereferstoASTMmethodsbywhichsoil,rock,andgroundwaterconditionsmaybedetermined.Theobjectiveoftheinvestigationshouldbetoidentifyandlocate,bothhorizontallyandvertically,significantsoilandrocktypesandgroundwaterconditionspresentwithinagivensiteareaandtoestablishthecharacteristicsofthesubsurfacematerialsbysamplingorinsitutesting,orboth.1.2Laboratorytestingofsoil,rock,andgroundwatersamplesisspecifiedbyotherASTMstandardsnotlistedherein.SubsurfaceexplorationforenvironmentalpurposeswillbethesubjectofaseparateASTMdocument.1.3Priortocommencementofanyintrusiveexplorationthesiteshouldbecheckedforundergroundutilities.Shouldevidenceofpotentiallyhazardousorotherwisecontaminatedmaterialsorconditionsbeencounteredinthecourseoftheinvestigation,workshouldbeinterrupteduntilthecircumstanceshavebeenevaluatedandrevisedinstructionsissuedbeforeresumption.1.4Thevaluesstatedin(SI)inch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.5Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.1.6Thisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
